Narrative:This music video is about a young black male, who from a very young age realised he was different from other little boys. Preferring to hang with girls instead of doing things considered boyish. He fought his feelings as he grew into adulthood but later met another young man who he began spending time with and realised the feelings he had for him were more than just friends. Things began to spiral out of control when his dad found and confronted him with a magazine targeted for males he had hidden. He felt ashamed and disappointed and ran away. He met and felt attracted to another young man and ended up in his bed when he visited his family home for dinner. He was so ashamed when his friends dad walked in on them in bed together he left the house escorted by his friends dad. He tried hard to block out his feelings and fit in with society playing american football until he returned to his locker one day and his team mates had obviously found out he was gay and stuck a giant plastic penis on the inside of the locker. Humiliated he decided to commit suicide with a gun realises he can't pull the trigger. He decides he's not going to fight or hide the way he feels anymore just to fit in with society. He ends up marrying the man he loves and they have a child together.
Editing: In Lil Uzi Verts music video many different editing techniques are used. At the beginning a fuzzy effect for the camera is used making the video look old school like with a lot of camera close ups and fuzzing out faces.Throughout the video effects like smoke are brought in and lightning strikes along with the addition of the colour purple used in the whole video which is Lil Uzis signature colour used in songs and also the colour of his hair adding an artistic feel to the video. There are also many different camera shots taken and slow motion effects put into the video. The cuts in the video are also in time with the beat which fans will enjoy for visualpleasure. Down at the bottom the subtitles/captions are in arabic instead of english which would be expected so that is unusual and not explained
Performance:The music video starts with a drones point of view flying over Kampala, Uganda. The beats then drops and in comes the compilation of the Ugandan natural talented street performers showcasing their unique ethnic dance moves. In the video you can see French Montana is enjoying going back to the country his family is from as he is shown smiling and dancing with the kids and adults enjoying the culture to its full extent. He is also shown enjoying life in what seems to be some type of bar at minute 3:10 with the other rapper in the video Swae lee playing pool and also having fun dancing in the video. The lyrics also relate to the video as when Swae lee sings 'you're unforgettable at 1:14 French Montana is seen pointing to a little girl he has held in his hands.
Mise-en-scene:The location of the music video is Kazakhstan following the last kid on earth. There are locations in Kazakhstan such as canyons, huts. Destroyed houses are also shown. The little boy is also shown to be quite dirty and scruffy, he looks like he hasn't worn clean clothes fora while. Just by looking at him you can see that he hasn't had a lot of water or food for a long time. As the song goes on his outfit changes and he's shown to have somewhat of a blanket on and a wooly hat for when its night time as it gets cold. An abandoned school which looks like war has taken its toll on as well. There is hand art on the school walls from past children to which the kid places his hand on the wall to thinking back to how things were. Others scenes include the sea a desert looking plain and mountains. Horses can also be seen in the video. At the end there is a camp of people who also look like they have been alone for a long time.
Camerawork: In wild thoughts the camera work is phenomenal. Throughout the video there are many different shots per second and different angles, examples include: the zooms on the many different instruments in the video as well as Dj Khaled (record producer), Rihanna and Bryson Tiller (artists). The tracking technique used in this video involves a camera being mounted on a platform that has wheels an example of this being used is at 0:35 when Dj Khaled and Rihanna are walking together down the street. There are also panning elements in the video following a subject which in this case is the artists as they dance around the set along with the extras. The camera can also blur out the extras in the background and focus mainly on the leading roles giving them more camera time even when there are others on the screen. Another camerawork element used is the tilting of the camera in certain scenes and shooting from different angles like being below the three stars at minute 3:00
Also notice how there are no shaky camera movements. This is because it wasnt filmed by somebody holding the camera but by being put on a platform.

Waterloo Road blog cast
Narrative:The clip suggests that the show is bound to be full of drama and that this new character will bring new elements to the show and affect those around her as we see when she kisses the boy randomly and everybody reacts. Story line wise she may change the way the school is run as she has come from a wealthy family and she seems like an authoritative character who will try to place her own rules.
Characters:The character stereotypes seen in the clip is the typical makeup wearing disrespectful drama girl as well as the cool guy which she kisses. We also see her parents who are seen to be posh and focused on their image to the public. The show introduces these characters in an outlandish way and after an event.
Iconography:The elements that introduce the school sub-genre of a drama are the different types of students and the principal that is not in check and how there is always some kind of problem that is occurring at the school
Setting:The school setting is introduced by having all the students and teachers outside as the smoke alarm has gone off, already showing how the school always has some kind of problem

The films narrative is clearly shown in the trailer following Todorovs theory of Equilibrium. The trailer starts of with a man who looks like a test subject being shown an then 20 seconds in explosions are shown and many different incidents that have happened around the world because of the Avengers. Then they face a problem where they must sign a set of accords which state they are only allowed to act under the governments word. Shortly after chase scenes are shown of many different characters which then go on to fight scenes of heroes going against each other which goes on until the end of a trailer.
The trailer is full of enigma and action codes. Including chase scenes involving Chris Evans (Captain America and fight scenes with Robert Downey Jr which will make the audience intrigued to see what happens, especially in the fight between Iron Man and Captain America. Also early on in the trailer action scenes are shown which will draw them in from the start. Also there is a mysterious tone as to what is happening to Bucky at the start of the trailer and to why are the avengers now fighting against each other when they're meant to be close friends protecting those in danger.
The trailer for Civil war uses narrative techniques of a Hollywood action movie. Propps character theory is used and we are given two main heroes, Chris Evan as Captain America and Robert Downey Jr as Iron man. Who both fit the heroic character role who is trying to accomplish something or trying to save somebody, e.g Captain America trying to save Bucky from various characters who want him dead. The heroine(s) in this are Scarlet Witch who is trying to learn the ropes as a new hero but is finding it tough and is having a hard time going through seeing certain events and Scarlett Johansson who is going reprising her role as Black Widow
In the Civil War trailer men are represented as the integral part of the film and who get most screen time as in the trailer most of it includes men running around, fighting etc. This is a common thing found in Hollywood action films and the heroines and given less screen time and when they are it doesn't always live up to how the men action sequences are. This representation reinforces the representations of men in Hollywood action film by quite a lot. Also this is more of a male based cast film but although there are two female superheroes in the film but that doesn't really balance it.
There are two female characters who have their individual time to shine but its nowhere near the length or better the male parts are which is a big stereotype and has been for quite a while which makes the female part of the audience angered from what their seeing as they would like to see a female playing a major role and not just on the sidelines as always which is unfortunate for some viewers.
In the trailer it shows that the government and police play a big part as they're trying to get all the avengers to act under their authority and no longer be able to do as they please. Also in some scenes the police are shown with some of the heroes and it also shows them surrounding captain America as if they were chasing him down. A police chase scene is reoccurring in many Hollywood films and is always in some part of a movie whether they're chasing the good or bad guy.

1) What typical features (conventions) of a film poster have you used? How do they help to make the poster effective in attracting an audience? (Key conventions include title, release date, institutional information, reviews, a central image etc.)
A convention on my film poster is the title. It is really eye catching due to the fact that it is in big black letters and the red shadow behind it gives off a nice effect aswell. It also has a serious thrilling tone to it which attracts an audience. The release date only states coming soon which gives anticipation as the audience will just straight away want to know when it will be coming out as they may be excited as for whats to come. The institutional logo 'Paramount Pictures' is shown and is a company that is known for making good rated films which will excite the audience as they'll expect it to be a big hit just by looking at the logo and not watching the trailer yet. The Central Image is of a man looking down with his hands in his pockets already giving off that he is not messing around and is in a serious situation and is not a person to be messed with either.
2) What is the genre of your film? How would your target audience know this from design of your poster? E.g. Colour scheme, font choice, mise-en-scene (props, costume, character, setting).
The genre of my film is Action-adventure, the audience would know this from the design of my poster as the character looks like he is up to no good which infers there will be action scenes and he is also wearing an all black leather jacket which is sometimes used in action films where the character goes on a killing spree or something similar. Also a major colour used in the poster is black which can represent death, mystery and dark themes. Red also links to an action film as it represents strength (something a character on a mission would definitely need) and determination.
3) What institutional information have you used to try and sell the film and how does this appeal to the audience? E.g. 'From the Producers of...' / Star power / Directors / Reviews.
I used positive reviews e.g "Thrilling" and "Roller-coaster of Emotions" which creates a word of mouth because everyone likes to hear that a movie has got good reviews otherwise they wouldn't be interested in the film at all even if they haven't given it a chance themselves. I also made the producers Paramount as they make fantastic films which most people know which may give it a higher chance of being known as a top quality film.
4) Where are there examples of synergy between your storyboard and trailer? (Synergy is the link or interaction between two different media texts).
The link between the two is the dark aggressive themes and how he's struggling with the situation he is in and how he cannot enjoy his life any longer and feels he must do something about it. Also the tagline has been used in the storyboard creating the serious tone
5) What representations have you used in your film? E.g. gender / race / age / nationality / place)? Are these reinforcing or challenging stereotypes?
The races I have used in my film is ranged over many as it is set in America which is known to have many people of different religions and races all over, the main character is a late 30s black male who just wants to do good and avenge his family. The film wont be a male focused one either as another main character is a young latin girl in her teens who has been fending for herself for a while and is helped by the main male character how to survive and what to do in certain situations and the two build a fatherly daughterly relationship both looking out for each other, which also shows race equality

Central Image- The main characters that are in the movie are on each side of the poster (Captain America and Iron Man). By having them it attracts many Marvel fans and intrigue them to know what this new movie is about and anticipate it
Background-The background shows an iconic popular item which is Captain Americas shield which is his first choice weapon. Also the other characters are shown (Falcon, Black Widow, War Machine, Vision, Bucky Barnes, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Black Panther), some of which aren't as major as the others but still play important roles. One of the major characters of the film is Spiderman which most people didnt know about as Marvel didnt give it away as seen on this poster, Marvel only brought the rights of Spiderman from Sony not too long before the making of the film.
Title-The title is in the centre of the poster which is 'CIVIL WAR' in capital letters along with 'CAPTAIN AMERICA' inside of it. The title immediately what the film is and what its about for some and who the main character is too.
Tagline-The tagline ,United we stand.Divided we fall' which is very short and snappy and indicates the characters arent as close as they were before and also given an understanding of the film.
Institution-The institution is Marvel and the logo is placed above the title making it centralised too
Release date-The release date is in capitals and a a big font (May 6) to catch the eye of viewers
Iconography- Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans are shown who are both extremely big celebrities and huge in the Marvel Universe Movies as their roles as Captain America and Iron man who are infact the two main characters of the film and as they star in many action movies the audience straight away will know, it'll be an action movie. Also the characters standing on either side indicates there will be some sort of fighting between the two.
The trailer introduces Captain America and Bucky and then goes onto showing the logo 'Marvel' it then shows different scenes from the film aswell as introducing characters and dialogue. There are a lot of fast paced scenes shown in the trailer which anticipates the audience even more and gets them extremely excited for the film. It then shows a scene where a character is shown to be dead or badly injured which changes the audiences mood a bit. And in the end marvel introduce Spiderman with a short clip and a short and snappy bit of dialogue from him
